News is out that the much-touted iPhone 3G isn’t really manna from heaven. Users from New York to Stockholm and even India have reported that they are suffering from dropped calls as soon as they move from a 3G network to something that isn’t. Experts say that this could be the chipset in the handset that is responsible for network transfer.
Apple says there’s a software fix and users can just go online and get this done through iTunes. But if the software fix doesn’t work, will Apple recall all iPhones? That’s a question begging for an answer. As of now, Apple chooses to remain silient on this one.
My advice: If you still haven’t bought the iPhone 3G, then postpone your purchase until a solution is found for this one. After all, who wants to spend Rs 24,000 and end up with a rat that squeaks incessantly during every call?
