I have been a print journalist since 1996. And done just about everything under the publication sun. From working in dailies and weeklies to newspapers, magazines and websites. Some of them include Mint, The Man, The Sunday Guardian, Worldstart, SilverKris, M, Touchdown and Men’s Health, among others. More recently, I was a finalist in the ‘Media Person of the Year’ category at the Namma Bengaluru Awards for 2018.
I am the Editor and Publisher of Residents Watch, a 6-year-old monthly magazine on HSR Layout (Bangalore) that is now a daily news channel on this very neighbourhood. It’s the world’s first initiative of hyper local journalism on one small urban settlement. You can download the mobile app and stay updated every day by clicking here. I am also the co-author of Mind Blogs 1.0, a book of non-fiction, and the Festival Director of The Times of India Literary Carnival held in January 2014. More recently, I was featured in Tuhin A Sinha’s book, Daddy: The Birth of a Father. My experiences appear on countless occasions in the book on parenting brought out by Harlequin.
My last post was as the City Editor of MiD DAY, the daily tabloid that I helped start in Bangalore. Today, I run Write Wing Media that is into content marketing and custom publishing magazines and every form of communication material for publishing houses, corporates and individuals. That apart, I still freelance as editor/writer/photographer for publications in India and abroad.
I have had over 3000+ bylines in countless publications. Some of them are in my Portfolio section on this blog. If you wish to hire me as a writer, editor, photographer or content marketer, you can reach me at: zahidjavaliATgmailDOTcom. Happy reading!
