I was suffering from a ‘ network connection timed out’ error everytime I tried to update my iPod Touch software. I went online looking for an answer and finally found one that worked. If any of your are having similar problems with your iphones, ipods and ipads, here are a few troubleshooting tips that might work:
1. Disable the Apple device’s auto lock function in the ‘Settings’ menu.
2. Disable your Windows Firewall and all your anti-virus programmes temporarily.
3. If all this fails, do what worked for me. Download the software from sites like softpedia and later upgrade your Apple device.
