Bengaluru on Friday hits the stands

Sorry for the late update. But I am happy to let you know that the third issue of Bengaluru on Friday hit the stands yesterday.

BOF is the new tabloid edited by me for the people of Bangalore. It’s about events, happenings, parties, people, nightlife, entertainment, property investments, travel and technology. Everything that a citizen would love to be part of. It’s light reading all the way for a person who wants to spend his weekend qualitatively.

The paper is available at prominent event landmarks in the city: bookstores, event venues, art galleries, coffeeshops, department stores, restaurants and pubs. From Variety bookstall and Magazines store to British Council, Oxford bookstore, Opus, Kyra Theatre, Ranga Shankara, Alliance Francaise, Max Mueller Bhavan, Hard Rock Cafe, and so on.

You can view all the issues at this link, including its latest edition HERE

Greening Bangalore

The last five years have seen a noticeable change in the environment and climatic conditions of Bangalore. “Isn’t it hotter now?” is what everybody is saying. The peaceful VV Puram locality ( Lalbagh Westgate) where I once stayed, used to be a haven for pedestrians and morning joggers.

Take a look at the same spot now and your eyebrows will touch astronomical heights. I remember this big tree that I was so fond of and somehow I had the feeling that the authorities wouldn’t spare this one either. The metro was to go over it’s head. The tree was felled and I was so upset, I did not have dinner that night. The spot gets scorching hot during day time.

There are several such stories, but I have a strong feeling that unless the common man takes an initiative, the results are going to be serious. Why keep on complaining that the trees are being felled? Why brood over spilt milk? Why scream into deaf ears? Let us Bangaloreans do our bit to preserve the Garden City that was.

Buy a sapling, plant it and water it. In your property or around it. Take permission and be futuristic. Make sure no developmental work affects the tree in the near future. Imagine every Bangalorean taking the initiative? Imagine watching millions and millions of saplings grow and take shape as beautiful large trees. Impossible is nothing.
