Karzzzz is a flop despite the fact that it was numerologically accurate – with 4 Zs to draw the audience into the theatres.
Sadly, none of the powers above appreciated this gesture and music composer turned singer turned actor Himesh Reshammiya has a flop on his hands. it shocked everyone with a bad opening of 35% in multiplexes though a few single screens in Gujarat, UP, Bihar and Rajasthan recorded 80% attendance on its first weekend.
But on the whole, industry bigwigs predict that if the film sustains this low attendance, it could be yet another Eid disaster after Abhishek Bachchan’s Drona.
However, there is also some good news. Sanjay Dutt’s ‘Hello’ based on Chetan Bhagat’s One Night @ a Call Centre has done well with a week one collection of around Rs 9 crore. The film is slated to recover costs and even make a small profit.
Another well-made film, Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘A Wednesday’ grossed Rs 11.22 crore nett in six weeks and is marching towards 50 days – a confirmed Hit. Ditto with Shyam Benagal’s ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’ that has been declared an ‘above average’ film netting Rs 10.7 crore till date.
