The court decision in India decriminalizing homosexuality was the right one. Let us hope that decision stands, as it is preposterous to make criminals of consenting adults who have a different sexual orientation than the majority. This legal victory is a step in the right direction, symbolic or not. That there are those who will try to invalidate it serves as yet another reminder that a large segment of society, both in the U.S. and abroad, still regards gay men and women as second-class citizens - or worse. That is the salient point of my recently released biographical novel, Broken Saint. It is based on my forty-year friendship with a gay man, and chronicles his internal and external struggles as he battles for acceptance (of himself and by others). More information on the book is available at www.eloquentbooks.com/BrokenSaint.html.

Whoa! That is, indeed, some idea! Wonder if astrologers realized this 'projection' concept ages ago, linking our life to the movements and changes of celestial bodies. :)

Do you think four hour weeks help us to realize our full potential? I think if one does not slog it out, one does not value the kind of freedom that a Sunday gives us.

There is one problem though; you have to convince your spouse/partner to give up his/her job like you did in order to fully enjoy your life. Otherwise, even after getting rid of your boss, you will have to wait for your spouse/partner's boss' permission to go on a holiday.

Point taken. It's largely individualistic. But marriages happen only once in life (atleast for most of them). Therefore, some caution is always advised before you take the marital plunge.

Well, while I do not have much interest in whether or not Sania Mirza should tie the knot now, I do not agree with the first reason stated in your post. It has been believed that women mature faster than men, and that is why the marriageable age for women in India is 18 while that for men is 21. However, the level of maturity is something that is more individualistic than general. By suggesting that the man should be 3-5 years elder than the woman, you are decrying the marriages where the woman is elder than the man. There was a time when the age difference between the groom and the bride used to be more than 15 years. The convention has been that the woman should be younger (and also shorter) than the man. But in today's age, it is not the age difference between the partners that determine whether or not the marriage will be successful; there are several other factors involved, like the second reason you stated in your post. However, emotional maturity does not necessarily come with a foothold in a job or a business. :)
