Okay, his retake on Sholay didn’t work, but his horror film Phoonk did set the cash registers ringing long after the show was over. Which is good. What’s more, director Ram Gopal Varma also ran a contest alongside. Whoever manages to watch the film alone in a theatre could win Rs 10 lakh. Ofcourse, the rider was that he had to also book the entire theatre and be the only one to watch it. Ofcourse, one person did win the prize and was given due publicity.
Now, Varma is back with yet another supernatural thriller, Agyaat. So can a contest be far behind? Varma is asking anyone to shoot a scary film on his cellphone, handycam or webcam and post it on Agyaat’s website (http://www.agyaat-theunknown.com). If you are lucky, you could get to direct the next horror film produced by Varma and UTV. Can it get better than this?
